After the strong Lib Dem campaign to protect local children's centres in 2013, the centres are again at risk of closure through the latest round of cuts from the Tory led County Council.
The County Council is about to undertake a consultation which could close local Children’s Centres.
It is consulting on three options to save up to £8m from the Early Intervention budget, currently £16m. All of these involve closing all or almost all of the 44 Children’s Centres across the County. This would be devastating for the very many parents and children who benefit hugely from the centres
Liberal Democrats are requesting that the County works with existing centres and local communities to work out how to reduce costs without closing the centres.
