John Woodford has represented the residents of Appleton and nearby villages since 1995, firstly on his own, and latterly as part of the team covering Appleton and Cumnor.
He has always been a diligent and hard-working councilor and he was one of the team that helped establish the Appleton Community Shop and was a regular on the shop rota in its early days.
John has consistently opposed piecemeal development in the Green Belt.
He voted against the Conservative proposals to build large housing estates in the Green Belt and to remove other local sites from Green Belt protection.
John has been both Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Planning Committee. He also served for two years as vice chairman of the Council.
He is particularly interested in affordable housing, community grants, and the economic well-being of the Vale's market towns.
John wants to see the Vale improve the way it communicates with local residents and to make sure it listens to them. On the Local Plan, the Botley redevelopment and many other issues, the Conservatives just haven’t been listening.
