Layla Moran, Lib Dem MP for Oxford West and Abingdon, has said she is “delighted” by the news that Oxford University has come first in the latest Times Higher Education (THE) world university rankings for the fourth year in a row.
The list ranks over 1,300 universities around the world, measuring their international outlook as well as their research and teaching quality.
Commenting on the news, Layla said:
“This is fantastic news. Yet again Oxford has been ranked as the world’s leading university. All credit is due to the hard work or departments, colleges and students.
“The University attracts the very best and brightest from around the world. It’s a shining example of the liberal, internationalist values that bring so much to our community and our country.
“However I do worry that Brexit, and the values of this Conservative government, put the future of our world-leading universities in jeopardy, with Britain becoming less attractive to the top talent from around the world.”
