Layla has welcomed the Growth Deal for Oxfordshire with in excess of £100mn of investment announced for the county.
Lib Dem Parliamentary Candidate for Oxford West & Abingdon, Layla Moran, has welcomed a historic Growth Deal for Oxfordshire which will see at least £108.6million invested in the county.
Commenting on the announcement of the deal, Layla said: "This is great news for our area. As we all know it is important for our local community that we see investment in transport, flooding and the science and research industries. This deal allows us to do just that, placing the power and the money in the hands of the people of Oxfordshire who know how best to spend it, making a real difference to local communities."
The Growth Deal will help create over 6,000 jobs, allow the building of approximately 4,000 houses, and the Local Enterprise Partnership estimates it could generate over £95million of private and public sector investment in the Oxfordshire area. The deal will include investment in measures to help reduce and tackle the impact of flooding on our communities, create better transport links across the county, and develop new skills centres to train over 9,000 more local people with the skills they need to have the best chance to get on in life.
Deputy Prime Minister, Nick Clegg, further commented: "The Oxfordshire Growth Deal will create thousands of jobs, provide incredible new training opportunities for young people, build new homes and improve transport links across the region for people and their families; all helping to build a stronger economy and a fairer society."
