The Liberal Democrats beat the Conservatives by a margin of 10% of the votes cast in the County Council elections on Thursday.
They held all eight County Council seats they were defending, nearly all with increased majorities.
And Emily Smith gained the Abingdon North seat, defeating former Leader of Abingdon Town Council, Sandy Lovatt.
"This is a fantastic set of result and puts us in prime position for the General Election here," said Lib Dem Parliamentary Candidate Layla Moran.
"The result reflects the hard work of local Lib Dem councillors across the constituency and the high level of concern there is about Conservative cuts to our NHS and local services."
The estimates totals of the votes cast for each party are:
Liberal Democrats 43.2%
