Moran “absolutely thrilled” as local mental health partnership wins prestigious NHS Parliamentary Award


Layla Moran, Lib Dem MP for Oxford West and Abingdon, has expressed her delight as Oxfordshire Mental Health Partnership, who she nominated along with other Oxon MPs, won the national Excellence in Mental Health Care Award today in Parliament. They were shortlisted last month for the South East.

The partnership brings together six specialist mental health organisations to create positive initiatives that improve the lives of people living with mental health challenges. Teams offer a wide range of interventions including inpatient hospital care, community mental health and third sector services to get people back into employment, education, stable accommodation and relationships. Effective recovery is holistic and OMHP provides a complete recovery package supporting people through their journey, focusing on emotional and physical care and wellbeing, education and skills, employment, financial stability, housing.

“I’m absolutely thrilled – massive congratulations to the winners. The Oxfordshire Mental Health Partnership are a fantastic example of how the NHS brings specialists together to deliver quality care for our community.

“Commiserations also to the Vaughan Thomas Ward at Warneford Hospital for not winning the Future NHS Award today. They were up against some excellent competition, and even getting to the final round is an incredible achievement. They should all be very proud.”
