After two busy years as a councillor, Andrew is keen to continue representing the people of Summertown ward.
He has made cycling provision one of his main concerns, achieving significant improvements to cyclist safety by persuading the City to make safety rails compulsory on large lorries. He has raised the need for better cycling provision across the city and in particular for good cycle routes to be provided to the new Northern Gateway development.
Having lived in the ward for 17 years and brought his family up here, he knows local issues and concerns very well.
As a member of the Summertown/St. Margaret’s Neighbourhood Forum steering group, Andrew has worked on environmental issues in the ward and hopes that the Neighbourhood Plan will help to protect what is important in Summertown while influencing new development for the better.
Andrew is a governor of Cutteslowe Primary School and is delighted at the way the school is developing and providing an excellent education, working with both the Children’s Centre and Cherwell School.
He says: ‘I have very much enjoyed working for the ward, particularly on planning matters. I am very aware of the potential threats to the area from so much new development and will continue to fight to ensure that residents are always involved in discussions on anything that affects them.’
