Villages Branch: Speaker and Supper Event: the PCC Elections

The Oxford West & Abingdon Villages Branch is hosting a speaker and supper event on Thursday 3rd March at Wootton and Dry Sandford Community Centre. Please come along from 7:30pm for a drink and at 8pm we are very pleased to have Prof John Howson, our candidate for the Police and Crime Commissioner elections and Vice-President Liberal Democrat Education Association's spokesperson for Education speaking to us.

John has been a teacher, lecturer, civil servant and business owner. He was a magistrate in Oxfordshire for more than 20 years and was national vice chair of the Magistrates' Association. He was the Lib Dem PCC candidate in the last elections and will be the Lib Dem candidate for the Thames Valley again in 2016. He is a trustee of a charity working with the children of prisoners; a forgotten group and believes the government is aiming to make PCCs have oversight of all the blue lamp bodies.

John will talk briefly about how he sees the role of a Lib Dem PCC and how young people are caught up in the criminal justice system. There there will be a discussion and a chance for you to ask John questions and talk about concerns or ideas you have to help make our communities safer and more cohesive.

The event is free, but if you would like to stay for a warm buffet style supper and a glass of wine there will be a charge of £8 payable on the night. If you are able to attend please RSVP to emily.smith@oxwablibdems.org.uk so we have an idea of numbers.
