Wolvercote Young People’s Club needs to raise £100,000 to keep going after funding was cut and rent raised.

Commenting, Wolvercote’s MP Layla Moran said:

“I met with the staff, trustees and young people who use Wolvercote Young People’s Club earlier in the year where I saw the outstanding work that the Club does in our community.

“Any and all donations are hugely appreciated and will make a huge difference. But the fact is that the Club shouldn’t have to be raising £100,000 to keep these community youth services going and I share the anger of residents and volunteers at the decisions taken by the County Council to increase the rent and cut support.

“The decimation of youth services because of funding cuts by many councils and the Government over the last few years must be reversed. That’s why in Parliament I am campaigning for ring-fenced additional investment in youth and children’s services to ensure they reach more children and young people and provide more varied and high quality support than ever before.”
