In response to the Prime Minister's address on Sunday evening (10th May 2020), Layla Moran MP has called for 'tighter instructions' and 'assurances about continuing to protect those who are physically and economically vulnerable,' as well as issuing a warning that 'bad communications cost lives.'
Layla Moran MP said: “After feeling overwhelmed by the differing statements and slogans from the Government this week, the public will now be underwhelmed by the Prime Minister’s statement, which raises far more questions than answers.
“Bad communications costs lives; the Government and the Prime Minister are woefully underperforming here, and for all our sakes they must do better. The Prime Minister offered no explanation for yet another change in strategy, and no apology for the failures to date, including the slow start to testing, the ongoing lack of PPE, and the failure to protect the elderly in care homes."
“Instead, we heard vague statements about being able to travel to “other places,” and “going to work if you can.” What we really needed were tighter instructions and assurances about continuing to protect those who are physically and economically vulnerable in light of the lockdown extension."
