As the UK recovers from the effects of the Covid pandemic, the hospitality sector urgently needs access to vital workers to ensure it can continue to function.
The sector has been hit by a triple whammy of the pandemic, Brexit and the new immigration system: uncertainty in the sector due to the Government’s handling of the pandemic meaning workers are leaving for other jobs; Brexit means many EU citizens have left the UK; and the new immigration system means hospitality businesses can’t recruit enough people from abroad.
The Covid Recovery Visa will help to recruit hospitality staff from outside the UK who would otherwise be unable to come work. The Government must class hospitality as a shortage industry and introduce the visa without delay.
If we don't act, our hospitality industry will remain understaffed and unable to work to full capacity even once lockdown restrictions ease.
Will you join us in backing Oxfordshire’s hospitality sector by calling on the Government to introduce a Covid Recovery Visa?
