Layla Moran, Lib Dem MP for Oxford West and Abingdon, has said she is “incredibly proud” at the news that Oxford University’s Covid-19 vaccine is safe and induces an immune reaction, calling for the scientists leading the project to receive honours.
The results of the first stage trials published in The Lancet show that the vaccine induced a strong immune response in the over 1,000 people who took part in the trial.
I'm incredibly proud of the news that Oxford University's Covid-19 vaccine has passed crucial early stage trials. The scientists pioneering this vaccine deserve honours to recognise their incredible contribution to humanity. https://t.co/YV1yqbEL3b— Layla Moran 🔶🟡 (@LaylaMoran) July 20, 2020
Layla is calling on the PM to “give the scientists spearheading the vaccine honours to recognise their incredible achievements.”
Layla Moran said:
“On behalf of our whole community, I’m incredibly proud that Oxford’s COVID-19 vaccine has passed crucial trials. I know we’re not there yet, but the signs are really promising.
“I’d like to thank all the scientists and others who have worked around the clock to get us to this point, and we’re so grateful to everyone who volunteered to take part in the trial itself.
“I will be calling on the PM to ensure the scientists leading this effort receive the honours they deserve.”
