Following the publication yesterday of the CQC's report on Botley Medical Centre, I wanted to update my constituents on the situation:
The CQC’s report on Botley Medical Centre is deeply concerning and reflects a picture that I have been closely following, working with constituents to address their concerns about patient services at the practice, for some time. Everyone in the NHS has worked incredibly hard during the pandemic and dealt with significant challenges. Ensuring the community has ready access to timely, efficient and safe services is my top priority.
I have met with the Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) on multiple occasions to relay residents’ concerns and receive updates on the situation. I am in close contact with the CCG, the patient participation group, council and other stakeholders. The report is clear that urgent improvements are required. It is my understanding that the CCG will appoint a transformation partner, another GP practice with experience of this situation, to help guide BMC through the next important stage.
My priority is ensuring my constituents have access to timely, professional medical services in Botley, Cumnor, Kennington and surrounding areas, and that they are communicated with, and consulted, throughout this process in a timely and transparent manner. They must be involved every step of the way. I urge any BMC patients to read updates on the practice’s website, and any constituents who have issues or concerns can get in touch with me.
