Layla has cautiously welcomed reports that Oxfordshire County Council have conceded to pressure from the public and scrapped £1 million worth of cuts and further delaying £600,000 by a year.
Layla commented on the U-Turn, saying:
“I am delighted that pressure from local residents has made Oxfordshire County Council’s Conservative bosses think again on their reckless cuts to mental health funding.
“This Council must serve notice to their own Government that cuts to local authority and health services aren’t going to be accepted by people in our county who realise how important it is that we value and invest in mental health services instead of slashing them.
“This U-turn in necessary, but by no means at all sufficient. I will be calling on the County Council to think again and scrap rather than just delay the further cuts they are trying to get through via the back door.”
