Layla marks the United Nations’ International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination

On #FightRacism Day, Liberal Democrats will always stand up against racism and intolerant attitudes.Layla Moran has marked the United Nations’ International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. This year’s theme for the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination is “Youth standing up against racism”.

Young people were at the forefront of the Black Lives Matter protests following the death of George Floyd in the United States. Layla said “we still have much more to do” on racial injustice, marking the United Nations’ International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination.

“I am incredibly disappointed by Matt Hancock’s response. Flooding has already displaced thousands from their homes, with more likely to be displaced in coming days. Many of them will be in the priority groups to receive the coronavirus vaccine, but if they temporarily move to another area they may fall through the cracks.Layla Moran, Lib Dem MP for Oxford West and Abingdon, has said she was “incredibly disappointed” that the Government didn’t seem to have a plan to ensure priority groups for the coronavirus vaccine displaced by flooding would still get their jab on time.

I’m calling on the Government to reconsider the Abingdon flood scheme and work with our local councils and resident groups to make it happen.
